River Fund announces scholarship recipient
NEWRY — The River Fund Maine (TRFM) is pleased to announce its third scholar, Bailey Fraser of Bethel. The River Fund Maine Scholarship is an initiative that focuses on enabling local youth of the Mahoosuc region to achieve educational and career-oriented aspirations, one that is deeply rooted in TRFM’s vision and mission. Bailey is a Telstar High School Senior, who serves as Co-President of the Class of 2022, Student Council, and Interact. Bailey’s commitment to the larger community was evidenced by her leadership in honoring two local teachers who found themselves fighting a battle with breast cancer.
“Bailey is the perfect example of a well-rounded student and human being. “We as a school community are so excited that Bailey has been selected as The River Fund Maine scholar this year, she is so deserving and will be a great representative for the fund and our community. “Bailey is a leader, but always remains humble at the same time. The River Fund Maine Scholarship provides its recipient with up to $20,000 each year for four years toward the cost of college tuition and fees, room and board, books and educational supplies.
“All of the scholarship candidates from Telstar and Gould excelled in academic achievement, school leadership and community involvement,” says Noah Tanguay-Collins, TRFM Executive Director. Bailey Fraser’s accomplishments are many: ● Accepted into the National Honor Society (October 2020) ● Student of the Month (April 2019) ● Student of the Month (March 2021) ● Phi Beta Kappa Certification of Recognition (June 2021) ● Co-President: Class of 2022 ● Co-President: Student Council ● Co-President: Interact “On behalf of The River Fund Maine’s Board of Directors and the Education and Selection Committees, we applaud Bailey and are honored to name her as The River Fund Maine Scholar 2022” says Tanguay-Collins.
